Abstract

The article examines the issue of cooperation of law enforcement agencies in the investigation of crimes against the foundations of national security. It is noted that the establishment of an appropriate level of law and order is a necessary condition for the development of democracy in Ukraine. Strengthening and protecting this order rests with a variety of state and non-state institutions, including state authorities. Ukraine, like most countries with representative democracy, has three branches of government legislative, executive and judicial. However, law enforcement agencies are of particular importance among the authorities responsible for ensuring law and order, protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, state and public organizations.

It was established that today mass media have formed into a special institution of democracy, which affects all spheres of society, including criminal justice. The constitutional right of citizens to receive information about the fight against crime in Ukraine is the basis for public control over the activities of authorities in the sphere of law and order. Therefore, the need to involve the mass media for the needs of investigative bodies and pre-trial investigations is urgent, especially as regards crimes against the foundations of national security at a time when Ukraine is at war. It is substantiated that the influence of informational factors on all social structures is an integral characteristic of modern society. Ukraine, being in a state of war, is slowly but systematically moving towards world standards of the information age.

Attention is focused on the fact that today most of the printed and audiovisual media already exist in an electronic version on the Internet. This allows law enforcement officers to use automated information retrieval systems (AIPS) to search for forensically significant information, classify it and store it in appropriate data banks.

It was concluded that it is important to take into account that there is an inverse relationship between the needs of society and its capabilities to create such systems. The more criminalized a society is, the weaker it is economically and needs much more effective tools to fight crime.
