The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of conducting and implementing molecular genetic examination in criminal proceedings under martial law. The use of molecular genetic expertise is indeed an important tool for law enforcement agencies in the investigation of war crimes and other criminal offenses. DNA examinations allow for accurate identification of individuals, establishing family ties and even creating genetic profiles, which greatly helps in the search for missing persons and is of great practical importance in the practical activities of law enforcement agencies.
The article draws attention to the importance of combining the capabilities of DNA expertise with the Electronic Registry of Human Genomic Information, which creates an effective system for collecting and processing information about missing persons. The registry allows storing genetic data that can be used in investigations, helping to identify victims and survivors of war. This approach not only speeds up the search process but also increases the accuracy of the results.
The article emphasizes that in the process of investigating criminal offenses, searching for and identifying individuals, and in general, in solving criminal offenses, human genomic information is quite important, especially with regard to identification, as it allows to identify a specific person. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, molecular genetic examinations are important because they contribute to the effective investigation of war crimes, the search for missing persons and the identification of unidentified persons.
It is noted that molecular genetic data is a powerful evidentiary tool that can be used in courts to prove guilt or establish innocence. A systematic approach to the collection of genetic information will also contribute to strengthening international cooperation in the investigation of criminal offenses and establishing the truth in criminal proceedings.
