The article examines the conceptual principles of using special knowledge during the investigation of criminal offenses against the environment. The use of special knowledge and skills during the investigation of criminal offenses against the environment was analyzed. Also, the general principles regarding the investigation of criminal offenses against the environment were defined, and the theoretical foundations of the practical implementation of countermeasures against criminal offenses against the environment were highlighted.
Attention is focused on forensic examinations and their types, especially on forensic environmental examination. The task of forensic environmental examination, which consists in establishing a causal relationship between the state of human health, its changes and the harmful effects of the natural environment caused by anthropogenic activity, has been studied.
The investigation of violations of environmental safety rules requires the application of special knowledge from various scientific fields, since the range of objects of research in these cases is extremely diverse. Accordingly, it was proven that the effective use of special knowledge, with the right approach to the investigation, will ensure the effective disclosure of criminal offenses against the environment.
