Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze the views of various scientists on the characteristics of the criminal individual who commits crimes in the field of economic activity. The report of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine for 2023 regarding the commission of economic crimes was analyzed. The social, demographic, psychological, and criminal-legal features of the criminal's personality structure in the field of economic activity have been researched. A new characteristic of the criminal in the economic sphere has been proposed, considering individual examples of recent judicial practice. The main problem identified is the weak level of criminal proceedings disclosure related to crimes in the field of economic activity, which also contributes to the formation of a large number of individuals encroaching on the social relations protected by Section VII of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, based on the analysis of the Report of the Bureau of Economic Security. The results of the study are a new characterization of the portrait of an individual committing criminal offenses in the field of economic activity. A characteristic feature of this criminological study is that, depending on the committed criminal offense, the characteristics of the criminal's portrait can significantly change; therefore, such analysis was conducted for each criminal offense separately. Overall, the number of men committing such criminal offenses is 70 %, which is significantly more than women.
